On Thursday, September 26, come connect with your Techer community in Boston and hear from President Thomas F. Rosenbaum in a unique fireside chat and Q&A moderated by neuroscientist, science communicator, and Caltech alum Crystal Dilworth, PhD (PhD ’14).
Boston has a thriving Techer community. More than 1,200 alumni, staff, postdocs, and donors reside within 60 miles of the city. That group includes over 250 scholarship recipients, 181 former student athletes, nine Distinguished Alumni, and four current or former Caltech Alumni Association board members. The area’s top employers include Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard, and Boston University.

Thomas F. Rosenbaum
President; Sonja and William Davidow Presidential Chair; Professor of Physics
Thomas F. Rosenbaum is the ninth president of the California Institute of Technology and Professor of Physics. He is an expert on the quantum mechanical nature of materials, conducting research at Bell Laboratories, IBM Watson Research Center, and the University of Chicago, where he served as Vice President for Research and for Argonne National Laboratory and then provost, before moving to Caltech in 2014. He received his bachelor’s degree in physics with honors from Harvard University and a PhD in physics from Princeton University. He serves on the Society for Science & the Public’s Board of Trustees, as General Member of the Aspen Center for Physics, and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences Los Angeles Program Committee. Crystal Dilworth, PhD (PhD '14)
Neuroscientist and Science Communicator
Crystal Dilworth, PhD (PhD ’14) has made a career at the interface between humanity and technology. On a mission to make the process of discovery and the public image of scientists more accessible to the general public, she got her start as a television correspondent, interviewing scientists and helping to communicate advances in science and technology to a global audience. After ten years on networks such as Voice of America, Al Jazeera, and CBS, Dr. Dilworth was awarded an IF/THEN Ambassadorship for STEM by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and emerged as one of the most influential STEM characters on television in the PortrayHer 2.0 study of 15 years of women in STEM on screen.
