Update Regarding COVID-19, Reunion Weekend Canceled
March 16, 2020
Dear Fellow Alumni and Friends,
Please know that you are in our thoughts as the world comes to grips with the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope you, your families, and friends remain safe and healthy.
The Caltech community is working diligently to ensure the safety and health of all students, faculty, and staff. It is not easy, yet it is encouraging to see institutions, governments, businesses, and everyday citizens making the necessary adjustments as recommended by leading health experts. We are encouraged by seeing everyone working together, as a community, to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
In direct response to the current state of affairs, please be advised that we have canceled Reunion Weekend 2020 and 83rd Annual Seminar Day, originally scheduled for May 14–17, 2020.
For Your Information:
- Regarding the 83rd Annual Seminar Day, we are planning to live-stream and record selected sessions, including the General Session. Our vision is that we will deliver this content online for all alumni and friends. More information will be forthcoming in April.
- We encourage alumni who have booked travel and accommodations related to Reunion Weekend and Seminar Day to cancel your reservations as soon as possible. For all who have already registered for Reunion Weekend and Seminar Day, the Association’s staff will automatically refund fees.
- In addition, please note that we have canceled all Caltech Alumni events, on and off-campus, through June 12, 2020 in accordance with local and national recommendations, as well as Caltech’s latest announcement(s).
- We strongly encourage all members of the Caltech community to remain vigilant and informed during what is certainly a difficult time for us all. Please refer to Caltech’s coronavirus site, as well as the Center for Disease Control’s coronavirus site for updates and recommendations, and monitor your local news for further information relevant to you and your personal community.
We will continue to monitor this unprecedented situation and respond in a manner that keeps the health and well-being of our community a top priority. We look forward to the day when we are all able to come together again, as we have before, to celebrate our community of Caltech alumni and friends.
