Ampaire: Decarbonizing Aviation Through Real Action, Today
by Kevin Noertker
Ampaire is leading the charge in sustainable aviation, developing electric and hybrid-electric aircraft that can reduce emissions, operating costs, and noise pollution. In this presentation, I will discuss industry trends in advanced air mobility and the need for sustainable aviation. You’ll learn about Ampaire’s unique approach to delivering solutions, their roadmap and vision for the future, and their outstanding track record of flights. You’ll also have a chance to hear unpublished details from their real-world hybrid-electric airplane deployments across the world, including journeys across the United States and Canada, and island hopping in Hawaii and the UK.
Kevin Noertker, BS (BS ’09) graduated from Caltech with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in History in 2009. He is Co-founder and CEO of Ampaire. Over the past eight years, Kevin and his team have pioneered practical, compelling electrified flight through the upgrade of existing aircraft types. In 2019 they flew the world’s largest hybrid electric aircraft. In 2020 and 2021 they deployed and demonstrated electrified flight with multiple airlines across the globe. With over 25,000 miles flown hybrid, and 12+ regulatory flight approvals across three countries to date, they’re a leader in hybrid electric aviation.
Prior to Ampaire, Kevin contributed engineering and program management expertise to advanced aircraft and satellite technology development programs at Northrop Grumman, and as a research fellow at Caltech and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. An entrepreneur at heart, Kevin is driven to apply the science and engineering disciplines of large aerospace organizations to our pressing environmental problems.
