70 Years of Exploration with JPL
Seventy years ago, a group of young men including Caltech alumnus Frank Malina ('35 MS ME, '36 MS AE, '40 PhD AE) drove to the site that is now the home of JPL in order to scientifically measure the thrust produced by one of the world's first liquid-fueled rocket motors. Their tests led to the founding of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
