The Second Annual Olive Harvest Festival was held November 7, 2008
The Caltech Olive Harvest Festival brings together the Caltech community to harvest olives from the 130 olive trees growing on campus in preparation for processing, pressing, and bottling Caltech olive oil. Alumni, students, faculty and staff are welcome at this community event.
In addition to olive picking, the festival offers demonstrations, screenings, tastings, tours and exhibits concluding with dinner served family style on the Athenaeum Lawn, and th olive picking challenge extended to alumni and students of the undergraduate houses. The house team of pickers with the highest yield by weight of olives is honored at a dinner for up to 90 hosted by Caltech President Jean-Lou Chameau and Carol Carmichael at the President's Residence in the coming year.
